Free Painting Demo: Colour Mixing for Skin Tones February 18 11am-12:30pm PST
Register here with Opus Art Supplies.
Have you ever struggled to mix and paint believable skin tones with oils?
Like much of painting, there is no magic bullet for painting skin – which is what makes it fun! Multiple techniques and considerations work in tandem to create the illusion of fleshy, realistic skin.
In this demonstration, I will work on an 11″x14″ (approx.) figurative painting using a photo reference while discussing colour mixing topics, including:
- how to see and interpret colour in skin
- considerations for different skin tones
- creating a sense of volume
- paint application
- the hierarchy of colour temperature and value
- & more!
I will work with a direct painting approach (no glazing). Attendees will be able to see the photo reference, the palette, and the painting itself. Questions are welcomed!
